More information on Steel PLA 1.75mm

What is Stainless Steel PLA 1.75mm made of?

This steel filament is a compound of PLA Natureworks 4043D and fine-ground steel powder. The filament remains fragile and should be handled with care.

Is it solid?

Stainless steel provides the aesthetics and density of metal, but because the stainless steel is in a fine powder and encased in PLA, the filament is more fragile than standard PLA.

Does it conduct?

No. There is insufficient stainless steel relative to the PLA, so this filament does not conduct electricity.

Post-treatment and finishing of Steel PLA 1.75mm

Finishing techniques Brushing:

Just rub back and forth with a filament brush, which will give your print added brightness, without removing the printing layers.

Stone polishing:

Small prints can be polished over 24 hours with different finishing materials. It is recommended that you use steel balls instead of stones.

Wheel polishing:

The best shine is achieved using a polishing wheel (a wheel with layers of soft material, attached to a drum) along with wax or polish/classic patina.
