PMMA Plexiglas filament 

PMMA filament is for 3D impressions of transparent parts and objects. PMMA is the abbreviation for polymethyl methacrylate, a substance better known as Plexiglas. PMMA filament characteristics

PMMA filaments have similar characteristics to those of Plexiglas. 3D printing with PMMA will allow your to obtain translucent or even transparent parts. The filament is also semi-rigid, it can withstand bending, making your 3D prints resistant to shocks and impacts. PMMA filament can be used to print objects and parts for outdoor use. It is true to say that PMMA has a good resistance to light and ultraviolet rays.

3D prints with PMMA filament are relatively complex and require some precautions if you want professional-quality prints. PMMA, or Plexiglas, is a material that prints at a temperature between 230 and 250 ° C. To prevent your pieces from peeling off during printing, make sure before your purchase of PMMA filament that your printer is equipped with a heating plate. We advise you to heat your plate to a minimum temperature of 60 ° C.

For a better rendering of your 3D printing with the PMMA filament, it is recommended to set a low print speed (from 20 to 40mm / s). The lower the print speed is, the more transparent your PMMA prints will be. Finally, post-processing can be done after printing your parts. To give your 3D PMMA or Plexiglas prints a brighter and smoother look, simply polish and sand your pieces with sandpaper.
